Dr. Jacqueline Spencer is a compassionate clinical psychologist with nearly two decades of
experience supporting individuals through a range of mental health challenges. She is dedicated to
helping clients gain insight and emotional well-being through evidence-based therapy and

Jacqueline holds a Bachelor of Psychology with First Class Honours, a Master of Clinical Psychology,
and a PhD, with her research focusing on individuals with alexithymia—a difficulty in identifying and
expressing emotions. Dr. Spencer’s research findings have been published in peer-reviewed
academic journals and she has been recognised for her academic excellence with multiple awards,
including the Australian Postgraduate Award Scheme (APAS) scholarship and the Research Awards
for Areas and Centres of Excellence (RAACE) scholarship.

Her expertise includes autism diagnosis and ADHD adult diagnosis, trauma‑informed therapy (EMDR, imagery rescripting), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic approaches. The assessment follows NHMRC guidelines and considers co-occurring conditions. Assessments are $1,500 and the final report is typically completed within 3–4 weeks.

What is involved in an autism assessment?

Autism assessments for adults and adolescents include:

  1. Initial consultation and formal testing using validated diagnostic tools
  2. Interviews to explore developmental history and current challenges
  3. Observer input (if appropriate)
  4. A written psychological report integrating findings and diagnostic criteria

The report is usually completed within 4 weeks and assessment cost is $2,960.

Can therapy be accessed without a diagnosis?

Yes. You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin therapy. Jacqueline works with clients navigating a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns, including anxiety, ADHD traits, relationship difficulties, and trauma.

How long are therapy sessions, and what do they cost?

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes allocated to clinical notes. The standard fee is $267 per session. With a valid Mental Health Care Plan, you will receive a $142 Medicare rebate, reducing the out-of-pocket cost to $125.

Is there a waitlist for appointments?
